On Thursday Director of the Pakistan Oilseed Development Board (PODB) Dr. Muhammad Ayub Khan along with his team visited Spring Maize-soybean Experiment at the Agronomy farm, at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad. Dr. Haroon Zaman Khan briefed the delegation about the experiment and the whole journey of this intercropping success. Director, PODB appreciated the success story of soybean and devotion to promoting Maize-soybean intercropping in Pakistan to minimize oil import from Pakistan.
In the second round, Dr Abid, Chief Executive and EX-DG AARI with his team visited the experiment. University teachers Dr. Muhammad Aslam and Prof. Dr. Abdul Khaliq also joined the delegation during the visit to the experiment. He said these experimental results are good to bring awareness of this technology in Pakistan. A healthy discussion took place and Dr. Haroon also explained the future scenario of Maize-Soybean Intercropping in Pakistan with the latest technology and strategies.
Furthermore for the promotion of the soybean University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) and Ayub Agriculture Research Institutes (AARI) are collaboratively going to organize a Farmer day where all Pakistan stakeholders, Farmers, and Public and private companies will participate. The announcement of farmer day will be made soon in the coming days.
