A Farmer Day was organized by the Department of Agronomy, UAF in collaboration with Ayub Agriculture Research Institute, Faisalabad on Maize-Soybean Intercropping. Different Public and Private Research Organizations, Stakeholders, Scientists and Progressive Farmers from all over Pakistan participated in seminars and Farmer Day.
At the start of the day, a Briefing was given to participants. First of all DG PARB Dr Abid Hussain talked about Soybean Promotion in Pakistan, and how it can play role in minimizing import bills and ongoing work Throughout Punjab. He also talked about Crop diversification Through Soybean Cultivation in Punjab.
Chief Scientist Muhammad Aftab gives an introduction about ORI (oil Research Institute) and varieties of Soybean and other Oil seed crops developed by the Research Institute.
Dr Muhammad Aslam from UAF shared the whole successful journey of Maize-Soybean Intercropping in his presentation. He tells the participant how they were able to grow soybeans in Maize while not affecting the main crop Maize. He talked about the recent successful experiment on Mazie-Soybean Intercropping conducted at Agronomy Farm, UAF.
DR Muhammad Ali Raza from Islamia University Bahawalpur (IUB) give his presentation on Strip Intercropping and his research work in Pakistan. He shares his success story with the participants. At the end of this seminar, a Question-Answer session also took place.

Here Vice-chancellor Dr Anas Sarwar Qureshi, University of Agriculture Faisalabad participated in Farmer’s Day at Agronomy Farm. Students and Professors also join the farmer day along with the VC of UAF. Dr Haroon Zaman Khan briefed in the field and answered the questions asked by the participants.
VC UAF, DG PARB and all other participants appreciated this Maize-Soybean Intercropping technology.
